This page holds the answers to common questions that are asked about our products.

- What is a wildcard character?

  • It is a character that stands for one or more unspecified characters. "*" and "?" are supported in Batch File Rename. "*" stands for any string of zero or more characters. "?" stands for one character. For example: "ac?h.*" matches "acah.bmp".

- How can I give my macro a meaningful name?

  • You can find a description edit box in the bottom-left corner of the main window. The name of the selected macro will change dynamically when you modify the first line.

- How do I know Journal Macro has been sucessfully registered?

  • The "GetNow" button in the main window is hidden if Journal Macro is sucessfully registered.

- How to repeat a macro infinitely?

  • Set the repeat number to zero.

- How to stop recording?

  • Press Shift+Pause.

- How to simulate key combinations, such as Ctrl + Shift + C?

  • To simulate Ctrl + Shift + C, insert "<ctrl_down><shift_down>C<shift_up><ctrl_up>" into a keystroke command. There is a panel in the bottom of the keystroke command editor, all the special keys are listed there. Thus, you don't need to remember how to spell the tags.

- I keep getting the error message "Time out when waiting for key releasing" when launching a macro while no key is being pressed actually. Why?

  • Only a few of customers have the problem. Journal Macro checks the keyboard state before launching a macro to ensure the macro works correctly. Some software doesn't restore the keyboard state after using it. To disable Journal Macro from checking the keyboard state, you can create a file named "WUNKPOff.txt" in the the folder where Journal Macro is installed in, and then restart Journal Macro. By default, Journal Macro is installed in "C:\Program Files\Journal Macro".

- Why does Journal Macro find a wrong window during playback?

  • Some windows are so similar that Journal Macro cannot distinguish them occasionally.

- I lost my serial number. How can I get it back?

  • Please go to Shareit.com, log in with the e-mail address you entered as the billing address for your order. You can then find the details, including your serial number, of the orders placed via your user account.
  • If you cannot find your serial number from Shareit.com, fill out a form and we will send it back to you.
